  34. Sorry I was short on time when I replied.  For answers to questions such 
  35. as these you should refer to both your modem manual and the appropriate 
  36. Kermit book, in this case "Using C-Kermit" as it will contain the answers
  37. you need and quite a bit of background info.

  39. When you set the speed with which you are communicating to your modem, 
  40. you are only specifying the interface speed.  Not the speed at which your
  41. modem will connect to the remote modem.  When a connection is made the
  42. modem reports back the actual connect speed.  And depending on how it is 
  43. configured it will change the interface speed between the computer and modem
  44. to match.

  46. This is SPEED-MATCHING.  Now both C-Kermit and the modem must be told to
  47. do the same thing.  Either they both speed-match or they both don't.  But
  48. if they do not agree, once a connection occurs you will get garbage.
